A selection of vintage carved bone items from the Watch Key Etsy shop. Brooches, earrings, an ojime, a panel bracelet, a necklace of carved beads and a very old little manicure tool. It’s amazing what people can make out of bones!

A little silver Victorian Royal Bijou Birthday Book from 1890. The picture of the little girl says ‘daddy’ on the back in pencil and many of the pages have birthdays written in with dates like 1892 and 1895.

Smoking Paraphernalia.

I seem to come across a lot of pipes, cigarette cases and vesta cases. Vesta cases in silver are especially popular. Here’s a selection of a few bits and bobs from my collection. A satyr-styled meerschaum pipe, a cheroot holder in a nice little case, a 9 carat gold and bakelite cigarette holder and one of my favourite pieces, a very unusual little vesta case with a tiny spyglass on the top. The spyglass shows miniature images of places in Wales (UK), such as Mount Snowdon. It also has an ‘in memory of’ image inside related to Beddgelert. This means ‘Gelert’s grave’, the grave of a dog from a 13th century Welsh tale which is quite sad and can be read here: http://www.beddgelerttourism.com/gelert/

Mystery Autographs! This is a stack of old one pound notes, which are no longer in circulation. They were found in a lot of coins from the auction house and have signatures on, some addressed to someone named ‘Richie’. I can only make out one of the signatures, which is from Paul Daniels (a magician). A mystery! If anyone fancies guessing any of them, let me know what you think they are!

Vintage Things!

I have this Etsy shop selling vintage bits and bobs, mostly coins and jewellery. I get most of my stock from a really interesting little auction house in North Wales, in the UK. I thought I’d post up some of the more interesting pieces here, every now and then I get a mystery item or two, or something really special. Here’s where I sell them: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheWatchKey?ref=si_shop

Enjoy the shiny things!
